Debuting a new biweekly column featuring political stories, this first article will discuss Joe Biden’s progression in the democratic primaries, and how this affects us.

Joe Biden, the former Vice President under the Obama Administration, is currently running for the democratic nomination for the 2020 presidential candidacy. Many people are leaning towards Joe Biden because they feel safe having someone experienced in office, someone familiar with the White House. But does that mean he is fit for the job?

I’m not talking strictly policy here. I mean his fitness for the job in accordance with his mental health. For example, recently at a campaign rally, Joe Biden announced that he was running for the United States Senate (he is not). He also recently told people to go vote in “Super Thursday”. Furthermore, he tells blatant lies, and false information, claiming that 150 million people have been killed by guns since 2007. However, according to the Center for American Progress, that number is actually 376,663. Biden also has a habit of telling stories of how he fought in the civil rights movement, but then later backpedaled on these statements.

To sum it up, Joe Biden not only tells lies, he is having trouble holding onto the world around him. Even basic things such as the office he is running for are seemingly a heavy order to ask of Biden. How is he supposed to run a country if he can’t even remember where he is half the time? Back in 2019, he said at a campaign, “I love this place. Look, what’s not to love about Vermont in terms of the beauty of it? And what a neat town.” It is clear that there is some form of disconnect, possibly due to an underlying form of Alzheimer’s.

Biden has blatantly lied, and is having issues simply knowing where he is. And yet, he is the Democrat party’s likely nominee for president? Why would this be? Just a thought, but it wouldn’t be hard to use Biden as a puppet for other people’s doings in the Democratic party. And that is rather worrisome.
